To attempt to unwind a little, this is a frame grab from part of my documentary. I know what the car is, and the details about it are.

Do you? If not, you really should. This one is really cool. I'll post the answer in about 80 minutes (midnight eastern time) if no one can get it. There's a pretty awesome story that goes with it too.

And I was so hopeful it would have taken longer...

Yes! This is a Cheetah!

Do you know the craziest fact about the car?!

I don't know too much about them, I just saw the exposed carbs and the roll cage and took a guess!

They were built to be a competitor to the cobra. This particular example is a remake, built in 2004. It has 525HP at the wheels, and has gullwing doors with no windows.

Back when these were originally built, during speed testing, one literally blew the doors off at speed (I don't remember the exact speed it was travelling). Due to this, the company building the new ones is also working on a window kit, to prevent further doors from being blown off.

This particular one is owned by someone who seems to be a Corvette collector. Last time I saw him, he was in a 454 swapped, race prepped stingray. He also had all the original parts for that, in case he wanted to put it back to factory spec.

I knew they were quick, but that's pretty crazy! I was lucky enough to see one in a private collection in Italy a few years ago, they're pretty radical looking

As a Corvette person myself, I love this, possibly more than the Shelby Cobra (who can't love a cobra) because of it's Corvette roots. If Bill Thomas had the success of Shelby, he would have beat them at their own game. There's fast, and there's stupid fast. The Cheetah is quite aptly named, and turns the "Stupid Fast" knob up to 11.

And from what I understand, they were quite a bit more rare than Cobras...

The rarity of the original Cheetah is probably on par with the Daytona Cobras they were really built to compete with.
